FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Reading, PA — Metropolitan Companies proudly celebrates Kevin and Susan Timochenko, recipients of the prestigious Halo Award at the John Paul II Center for Special Learning’s (JPII) 16th Annual Legacy Gala, held Saturday, April 25, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Reading.
The John Paul II Center Legacy Gala brought together community leaders, families, and supporters to honor those who make a lasting difference in the lives of individuals with special needs. As Signature Sponsor, Metropolitan Companies joined Presenting Sponsor Customers Bank in supporting an evening dedicated to impact, generosity, and community.
A highlight of the evening was the recognition of Kevin and Susan Timochenko for their exceptional commitment to expanding access to education through Pennsylvania’s Special Purpose Entity (SPE) tax credit program. Their leadership and advocacy have played a vital role in funding scholarships that allow more students to benefit from JPII’s life-changing programs.
Accepting the Halo Award, Kevin Timochenko reflected on the mission that drives their involvement. “What resonates most with us is the Center’s deep commitment to seeing every student and adult as a whole person,” said Kevin and Susan Timochenko. “That kind of individualized care and compassion is rare, and it leaves a lasting mark on everyone who walks through their doors.”
The Timochenkos have witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of the Center’s work. “We’ve had the privilege of seeing the confidence, joy, and progress of individuals at JPII. It’s clear how meaningful these programs are—not only for those they serve, but for their families and the entire community.”
Each year, the Legacy Gala celebrates individuals whose generosity brings opportunity and hope to JPII students. Through ongoing scholarship support, Metropolitan Companies and partners like the Timochenkos help ensure that more individuals can access programs that foster academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth.
The evening also highlighted the achievements of JPII students, adults, and staff, reinforcing the importance of community partnerships in building a more inclusive future.
Metropolitan Companies is honored to support the mission of the John Paul II Center and congratulates Kevin and Susan Timochenko on this well-deserved recognition.
